Cross & Flame Ministries
Cross and Flame Ministries is what we call an "Action Ministry".  We hold many different activities throughout the year which include: Church League Softball, Men's Basketball, Volleyball, March Madness Basketball Tournament, and Flag Football.  All of our activities are held on Sunday afternoons between 1:00 & 5:00 accept for Men's Basketball it is held on every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:00 a.m. We try to cater our activities to all ages and skill sets.  There is no skill needed to participate in any of these activities.  We are looking to give families a place to come out and spend an afternoon in fellowship. Pastor Travis Bennett is the Pastoral leader of the ministry and Zach Bechtold is the Ministry leader.  We are always looking for new people to join us.  You DO NOT have to be a member here at FUMC to participate!  If you have any questions please contact Zach or Travis.

Church Leauge Softball
2009 season dates
May 3rd, 17th, 24th
June 7th & 14th
1st game 1:00-2:30
2nd game 2:30-5:00

Softball has been our biggest and most succesfull ministry in the last few years evolving from 2 youth teams and 2 adult teams with 15-18 people on each team to 4 combined youth and adult teams with 25-30 people on each team.  We play a modified version of softball, we play 10-12 people on the field at once (since the teams are so big), we also bat everyone that played the field in their respective inning, and we also throw a modified underhand pitch (which means there doesn't have to be a certain arch to the ball when pitched).  We do these things because we have all skill sets and ages that join us to play, and we try to make it as fun as possible. We try to end every season with a championship double header at the Plainview Bulldogs Girls Softball Stadium, ending the day with a cookout with hot dogs and home made ice cream!  Please bring your families and come and join the fun and fellowship.

Volleyball
Dates TBD

We like to use all of our resources here at the Cross and Flame so we have put together a time to come play volleyball.  We typically play once a quarter to fill in between other activities.  We take 3 Sundays from the month we decide to play in. A typical afternoon lasts from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Again everyone is welcome to come play a friendly game of volleyball.

1st Game 1:00-2:00

Like softball we play a modified 6-7 man flag football.  We use the same teams for flag football that we do for softball.  That means there are 4 teams and we play 5 weeks, typically at the end of August-Beginning of September.  We have been know to end the season with a Championship game at Ceta Canyon, North East of Tulia.
